(Employment by Industry and Type)

The Area's Employment by industry is not representative of individual counties.

HC RC&D Area, although mostly an agricultural area, with agriculture as a primary industry, reports

that the vast majority of employees are  wage and salary employed, non-farm proprietors make up

the next largest portion and farm proprietors are smallest portion of employment type in the Area.

Although farm proprietorships are the smallest employment type in the Area, they make up 17% of

  the industries.

Services make up the largest section of industry with 35%  possibly justifying the large wage and

salary portion of employment type.  It also should be considered that many people that work on farms

are still paid by wages and salary.  Farm proprietorship accounts specifically for the owner’s income.
