Aquatic Invasive Species

"Aquatic Species includes both aquatic plant and aquatic animal species. Invasive aquatic plants are

introduced plants that have adapted to living in, on, or next to water, and that can grow either

submerged or partially submerged in water. Invasive aquatic animals require a watery habitat, but do

not necessarily have to live entirely in water." - USDA National Agriculture Library

  Eurasian watermilfoil

Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) is an aggressive aquatic plant that threatens Henrys

Lake within our area.  This noxious weed can cost thousands of dollars to control

once introduced.  High Country RC&D currently aids Fremont County in a

prevention initiative aimed at EWM.  For more information about the Henrys Lake

Eurasian watermilfoil prevention initiative click on the following link.

  Quagga and Zebra Mussels

Quagga and Zebra mussels are aquatic species which

multiply rapidly and threaten all of the lakes, reservoirs,

and bodies of waters throughout our area.  There is no

current grant funding to protect the water, so we are

asking the public for their help.

For more information about these mussels click on the
